Works

Series "Choice"

Inspired by the locality, remembering the life and plans of Nazariy Voitovych, with this series of works I turn to depicting household items and common things for people in this environment. After all, almost everyone has a bed, wardrobe, chair, and other things at home. Addressing such themes as freedom and responsibility, I would like to show the importance of choice in everyone's life. This is how we learn about the world, through choice we move through life, choosing one path or another. We alone are responsible for it, and only it leads to freedom, both external and internal. When making a choice, a person always relies on their experience and knowledge. On their history, religion, or status. Looking at their family, surroundings, and other people unknown to them. Often one wants to stand out brightly from others, or occupy an important place in society. To be useful, famous, or wealthy. And sometimes one just wants to blend in with the mass of people, to be unnoticeable, to be left alone. Inside every person, two worlds are always fighting: a closed one, in which everyone can hide whatever they want and put on a mask that suits them, and an open one - sincere, somewhat naive, accessible to all, where everyone can find something for themselves, but very fragile, easy to criticize and even desecrate. We always stand before the scales of fate, which gives us the opportunity to take much or little. Taking much, you don't know if you can carry it; taking little, you don't know if it will be enough. And such is our life, it has both light stripes and dark ones. And on the path of life, there are both cracks and smooth, even places. After a dark stripe comes a white one, and vice versa. It's up to everyone to manage this, to make choices on which everything depends.
