Biography

Vladislav was born in 1996 in Ukraine, in Dnipro. In 2022, he received a master's degree in studio and monumental painting from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. He is a member of a group of artists at the Kyiv Institute of Automation. Industrial landscapes and industrial objects surrounded Vlad throughout his childhood and remained the focus of his creative work. A significant series of paintings of Kyiv metro stations and tunnels emerged in his artistic process. Currently, Vlad often visits his hometown, where his parents still reside, and the metro takes on new functions and meanings.
"In our consciousness, the metro is now more than just transportation; it's a place where all people can find shelter. It's a safe zone from rockets and explosions. Very often, we could see people living right in the metro stations, and this personal experience is etched in my memory."

Metro as a shelter - a point of view

Vlad Ryaboshtan, an artist from the city of Dnipro, transformed his study of urban industrial spaces, namely the subway, revealing its new purpose and created the series "Metro as a shelter - a point of view." The underground spaces are filled with temporary housing and sleeping quarters, an expression of my own experience in Kyiv at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Writing his story on large canvases led the author to new experiments. Abstract works broadcast the transition, the search for new spaces for existence.
